The Middle East Institute (Washington, DC) published Dr. Foley’s article on Nabil Kanso (1940-2019), a Lebanese-American artist whose works express the current moment, decades after they were created. Born and raised in Beirut, Kanso studied at NYU in the 1960s, later settling in Atlanta. There, he created works addressing a wide array of themes—from Lebanon’s Civil War and the Arab-Israeli dispute to Native American History, the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Holocaust, and much more. https://www.mei.edu/publications/vision-darkness-balanced-light-lebanese-american-artist-nabil-kansos-works-express.
